Tour Itinerary
Arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Pick up and transfer to the hotel for check in and lunch. Spend the rest of the day at the hotel resting and enjoying the hotel facilities as you experience the serene environment of the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
At 7 am you will be picked up from your Nairobi Hotel and depart to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Here you will have a stopover at the equator crossing. This is an imaginary line that divides the earth into 2 hemispheres: north and south. Make a stop to take photos then proceed with the journey and arrive in time for lunch. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Ol Pejeta Conservancy; a conservancy overlooking the peaks of Mt. Kenya. The conservancy has a great number of wildlife including all the big five animals (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, and buffalo) among other game. The conservancy also has a special sanctuary that shelters several the rare and endangered species including black rhino, Grevy's zebra, the Jackson's hartebeest, and Chimpanzees. The Chimpanzee sanctuary is the only one in Kenya. It is a home for orphaned and abused chimpanzees, rehabilitating them to help them learn to live by themselves as in their own habitat. At 1800hrs, return to your camp for dinner and overnight.
Wake up in time for breakfast then head out to Laikipia Plateau. Be briefed on the trip enroute to Laikipia about the history of the location and the activities for the day. Begin your cycling adventure. The plateau offers a diverse terrain from grasslands to bush and rocky hills. While cycling, keep an open eye out for wildlife including elephants, giraffes, buffalos, zebras and various species of antelope. Stop for picnic lunch as you enjoy the terrific views and atmosphere. After lunch, proceed with the cycling adventure trying routes around the foothill of Mt. Kenya. Later head back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After a hearty breakfast you will be picked up from your camp/lodge and leave for Samburu National Reserve driving across the equator to the Northern Hemisphere, and onward to the semi-arid region of the. Arrive in good time for lunch and rest. In the afternoon have a game drive until late evening.
The name Samburu is of Maasai origin, a ‘samburr’ is a traditional leather bag the Masai use for carrying honey and milk. After breakfast, go for a full day game drive carrying packed lunch. A day spent searching for the big five, the Samburu five, and observing the vast unspoiled scenery. These five particular animals are usually only found north of the equator – the long-necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe which is characterized by its liver-colored geometric patches defined by narrow white lines, the Grevy’s zebra which is smaller than the common zebra and looks more like a horse, the beisa oryx with a black horizontal stripe running across its lower flank and the Somali ostrich males which have blue-grey necks and thighs.
After breakfast, check-out and depart to Nairobi with game drive en-route. Arrival in Nairobi and drop off at your Nairobi Hotel in time for lunch and check in for a short rest before you proceed out in the evening. Visit some of the malls in the city for some last-minute shopping for souvenirs or take a final stroll through Nairobi just to get a picture of the Nairobi night life. Head back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Early morning breakfast and check out from the hotel after which you'll be picked up for transfer to the airport for your flight back home marking the end to your delightful trip to Kenya.
