Questions travellers ask us

Quick answers about planning, payments, travel documents and life on safari. Can't find what you need? We are only a call or message away.

Planning and booking

How do I book a trip with you?

Choose a trip on our website and book it from its page, send a request through our Book a Service form, call us or visit our office in Nairobi. A consultant will reply with an itinerary and a clear quotation. Once you are happy with the plan, a deposit confirms your booking.

Can I change a ready-made itinerary?

Yes. Every trip can be tailored: the dates, the parks, the lodges, the pace and the budget. Tell us what you would like and we will adjust the plan for you.

Are your safaris private?

Most of our safaris are private, so you travel only with your own group, in your own vehicle with your own guide, at your own pace.

How far ahead should I book?

For the busiest months, July to October and the Christmas holidays, we suggest booking several months ahead, as the best lodges fill up early. Outside these months, a few weeks is often enough, but earlier always gives you more choice.

Payments and prices

How much is the deposit?

A 25% deposit confirms your safari or tour. The balance is due 60 days before your departure date. Flights are paid in full when the ticket is issued.

How can I pay?

We accept bank transfers, cheques and major credit cards. Your invoice will show the payment details. Please allow extra time for cheques to clear.

What is included in the price?

Each itinerary lists exactly what is included. Most safaris include pick-up and drop-off, transport and game drives in a 4x4 safari vehicle, an English-speaking driver-guide, park entrance fees, accommodation and meals as listed, and drinking water. International flights, visas, travel insurance, tips and personal expenses are usually not included.

Why do you say "price on request"?

Prices depend on your dates, the season, the number of travellers and the lodges you choose. Rather than show a price that may not apply to you, we send an accurate quotation for your trip.

Changes and cancellations

What happens if I need to cancel?

Please tell us in writing as soon as you can. Cancellations 60 days or more before departure cost US$500. After that, the fee is 25% of the tour price from 59 to 30 days, 50% from 29 to 15 days, 75% from 14 to 7 days, and 100% within 7 days. See our terms and conditions for details.

Can I move my trip to new dates instead?

Yes. If you reschedule, we keep 100% of your payments as a credit for a future trip, with no expiry date, less any change fees from our suppliers. Changes within 60 days of departure follow the cancellation terms.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance, including cover for medical emergencies, evacuation, repatriation and lost belongings. To protect your payments if you cannot travel, buy trip cancellation cover at or before the time you book.

Before you travel

Do I need a visa for Kenya?

Most visitors need to apply online for travel authorisation before arriving in Kenya, and rules change from time to time. We are happy to guide you, but please check the official requirements for your nationality well before you travel, as meeting them is your responsibility.

Which vaccinations do I need?

This depends on your route and where you are travelling from. Please see your doctor or a travel clinic several weeks before your trip, and ask about anti-malaria precautions for safari areas.

How much luggage can I bring?

We handle two pieces of luggage per person. Light aircraft used on fly-in safaris and some internal flights have stricter weight limits and may require soft bags; we will confirm the exact allowance in your travel documents.

Can children come on safari?

Yes. Unless a tour page says otherwise there is no minimum age, although some activities have their own age limits. We can suggest family-friendly lodges and a gentler pace for younger travellers.

How fit do I need to be?

Classic game-drive safaris need no special fitness. Active trips, such as mountain climbs, hikes, cycling or walking safaris, need a level of fitness similar to regular brisk walking or jogging. Please tell us about any health conditions when you book so we can plan safely.

On safari

When is the best time to go on safari?

The dry season, from June to October, is best for game viewing, and the Great Migration river crossings in the Masai Mara usually take place from July to October. January to March is warm and green, while April, May and November bring the rains, quieter parks and often lower lodge rates.

What vehicles do you use?

Our safaris use 4x4 safari vehicles, such as Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs, driven by experienced English-speaking driver-guides. We own our vehicles and employ our own team.

Is it safe?

Your safety comes first. You travel with experienced guides, stay in carefully chosen lodges and camps, and have our Nairobi team behind every trip. Your guide will brief you on how to stay safe around wildlife.
